We are not early rising this morning, and when we do get up we eat some of the food we picked up yesterday evening for Breakfast. Once up we do not hand about and are soon walking out of the hotel and across the road to Madame Tussauds. I did not have high expectations as whilst I have enjoyed visiting Tussauds in both London and Amsterdam I had been told that this one is a bit disappointing, but we had promised it to Baggage so we duly delivered. We were pleasantly surprised, Tussauds Las Vegas is billed as an interactive experience, you can mingle with the models: get into bed with Hugh Heffner; Touch J-Lo’s bum and make her blush; play golf with Tiger Woods, marry George Clooney; sing with the Rat Pack etc. We did most of them, or at least those that were appropriate, we have great video footage of me giving Baggage away to George Clooney, though I am still waiting for the dowry cheque. In all we were in Tussauds for almost two hours and really enjoyed ourselves, Baggage made sure she was photographed with everyone, or is that everything?

After Tussauds we walked on down the Strip, it was extremely hot and we ducked in many places just to get out of the heat. We stopped to eat at the Harley Davidson Cafe, a themed restaurant as you would expect from the name, with motorbikes and suitable memorabilia on display throughout. The food was pretty good and not badly priced and it was an interesting place to eat, plus served as somewhere to sit down and cool off.
We had planned to walk all the way down the strip, but the heat meant that this café was almost as far as we got and when we left after eating we pushed on to the MGM Grande and paid a visit to the lion habitat, but then started walking back down towards our hotel. On the way we saw the fountain display outside the front of the Belagio, which was very impressive and then went up the replica of the Eiffel Tower that is the centre piece of the Paris hotel for great views of the strip and a superb photo opportunity.
On the way back to the hotel the girls went on ahead and I did a bit of shopping and then had a go on the slot machines in Casino Royale, only the free go that you can win tickets for at the promo machines outside the Casino, but it gave me an understanding of how a typical Vegas slot machine works.
Vegas is not really a family destination, it could be but would need a bit of cleaning up, there is plenty for the kids to do but leaflet distributors who line the pavements dealing out cards advertising girls who will be delivered directly to your hotel room is not really what you want your children exposed to. The leaflet distributors are in your face as you walk down the strip and they do not hold back from trying to distribute to women with children, they line the road side of the pavement and flick the cards as they draw the top one from the deck and try to give it to you. Where they are distributing their cards also cover the pavement where they have been dropped making it slippery to walk upon.
I picked up a few things we needed for tomorrow from Walgreens and managed to fond a few presents, including tee shirts for Baggage and Lisa (Lisa’s fitted Baggage and Baggage’s was too small even for her! I had to go back out again later to change it for a bigger size) and then made my way back to the room. After a while in the room we went down to the café in our hotel for a bit of supper, Lisa and I each had soup and Baggage had Eggs Benedict without the hollandaise sauce (poached eggs on toast!).
We were not late to bed tonight as tomorrow we are off to the Grand Canyon and it will be a long day.
